Even though the Geometric Cabinet is often introduced around age 3, children up to 12 can still get a lot out of it. Younger students focus on basic shape recognition and hand-eye coordination, while older students use the same materials in a more advanced way.
By 9-12, they are comparing figures, studying relationships between shapes, exploring angles and classification, and using the drawers as a reference for more advanced geometry work. It supports the shift from concrete exploration to thoughtful construction and early abstract thinking.
The materials stay the same, but the level of exploration becomes more analytical and detailed as children get older.
