The letters are intentionally positioned to the right side of the board. This follows the traditional Montessori design, which allows right-handed children to trace the letter shape with their dominant hand while holding the board steady with the other hand.
For left-handed children, Montessori guides typically present the material slightly differently, positioning or rotating the board as needed so the child can comfortably trace with their left hand. Many left-handed children use the material successfully in this way.
